Planning and executing photos for your family can be time consuming and difficult. I get it. This is my job and I love it but I totally understand that sometimes the time and patience to coordinate outfits, find the perfect day and time, get the weather to cooperate, and get everyone in the mood for family photos just isn’t there. And sometimes, a luxury family photo experience isn’t in the current budget. I also get that it feels amazing updating your kids portraits on the walls. Documenting each new stage of their childhood and adolescence is special and important. This is where portrait minis come in handy. Let’s get creative. Let’s design a session around your loved one’s personality. I have a million ideas bouncing around my head all the time just waiting for you to come along and grab one to create your own unique wall art with. Lets make a wee bit of magic together!

The Process
I am going to come out and say it. These types of sessions are my FAVORITE for a whole bunch of reasons, one of them being that they are easy and straightforward and the process is super simple. So, let’s dive in.
Step 1: Contact Me
Fill out my contact form or email me at mikaylapentecostphoto@gmail.com and indicate that you are interested in a mini portrait session.
Step 2: Planning
This is the fun part. Once we get the contact and payment all taken care of and I know a little bit about what you are looking for, I will make a vision board, pull inspiration from color combinations that are visually appealing, and incorporate fun elements of your personality into the setup. Once we have a plan in place, we will set a date for the shoot. These sessions give us the opportunity to let our creativity out and really have fun!
Step 3: Photo Day
I get everything all set up and ready for you before you arrive. We spend about 30 minutes shooting (aka playing) and then you get to go home. No hassle, no stress, just quick and simple and fun.
Step 4: Pick Your Favorites
In about 2 weeks, I send you a proof gallery with approximately 10-20 images in it. You choose your 5 favorites and you get to download the high-resolution and web-size versions of those 5 images with a print release so you can print them and display them any way you’d like. You get hands on planning with me to tailor your mini portrait session to your vision. We discuss colors you are drawn to, personalities, your creative vision, and your printing needs ahead of time. We choose a backdrop and location based on our shared vision. You get a 30 minute session and 5 high resolution digital images that you choose from your gallery.

PROOFS VS. HIGH RESOLUTION, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
Every mini portrait session includes digital proofs that you will view in an online gallery. They are web-sized and protected with my logo across them— their only purpose is for viewing. They are your opportunity to sample the images before you decide on the high-resolution files.
What If I can’t narrow it down to 5?
Want more than 5 images once you view your proof gallery? No problem. Additional images can be purchased for $35 per image or $150 for the whole gallery.
HOW LONG IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?
During most of the year, my turnaround time for mini portrait sessions is 2 weeks. During the Fall months, it is longer.
What can I use these images for?
Another reason these sessions are my favorite is because the sky is the limit. Have more than one child? Blow up a portrait of each of them really big to hang in your home. I have a wood framed simple black and white portrait of each of my kids in my living room and they are my favorite. Best part, they were super budget friendly.
Another option is to have a parenthood session with the kids and use the photos in an album or a collage. They are a great budget friendly Christmas card option too.
You say we can get creative, what does that mean?
It means these give us the opportunity to have yours or your child’s personality shine. They aren’t the typical family photos that have similar backdrops, styling, and poses. Don’t get me wrong, I have a special place in my heart for emotive family photos against a beautiful sun soaked landscape, but not everyone can have sessions like that every year. These sessions ensure there is something for everyone.
Do you have a favorite movie or song? Want to focus on certain colors to coordinate with linens in your home? Do your kids go bananas for ice cream cones? Do you love fashion photography? Do you want something more minimalist so that there is nothing to distract from the features of your child that you love so much? The cool thing about these portrait sessions is we can take them just about anywhere and no two sessions will be alike.
